Aqsa Kashaf, a Computer Science major from the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) batch of 2016, recently won the prestigious Grace Hopper Scholarship. As part of this scholarship, she has received a financial award as well as an invitation for an all-expense paid trip to attend the 2016 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (GHC) in Houston, Texas, from October 19-21, 2016.
GHC is the world's largest gathering of women technologists. It is organized by the Anita Borg Institute, which is named after Dr. Anita Borg, who devoted her adult life revolutionizing the way we think about technology and dismantling barriers that keep women from entering computing and technology fields.
GHC is a 3-day conference designed to bring together women in computing to discuss research and career interests. The conference includes presentations on a variety of topics, professional development activities, and an open source day.
Aqsa Kashaf recently received a fully funded Ph.D. admission offer, along with the Dean’s fellowship,from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), a top-ranked University in the US. She will be starting her Ph.D. in the coming fall semester.
