Junaid Saif Khan, a Physics major from the MS Class of 2018 has been selected for the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting taking place from June 20 - July 6, in Lindau, Germany.
Getting selected for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is an acknowledgement of a researcher’s work in his/her respective field. The selection is exceptionally esteemed for the researchers as only the 600 most qualified young scientists from around the world are given this opportunity to enrich and share in the unique atmosphere of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
Speaking about his selection, Mr. Junaid Khan said, “It’s a milestone for me to be the only master’s graduate among the five other participants selected from Pakistan for this conference. It will be a great opportunity for me to interact with some of the great Noble minds congregating from across the world at Lindau. Since my interest is in fundamentals of the fields; theoretical high energy physics, it would be of high value to me to be able to get some insight from the progenitors of fundamental Physics themselves. Moreover, I am keen to know their motives, enthusiasms, and experiences behind the long journey towards the noble prize.”
Each year since 1951, Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry, Physics, Physiology or Medicine have been meeting in Lindau, Germany, to discuss major issues of importance to their fields with students from around the world. The meetings include lectures, panels, round-table discussions on interdisciplinary topics and informal small- group meetings with the Nobel Prize winners.
This conference is fully funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). The funding body will also be organising visits to various universities and research institutes in relevant fields during the Post Lindau week, from July 6 – 12.
