Shahid Hussain Foundation Establishes Scholarships for International Students

The Shahid Hussain Foundation has established scholarships for international undergraduate students for fall 2017. Uzma H. Hyat, Vice Chairman, Shahid Hussain Foundation and LUMS graduate of BSc 2003 confirmed that the full annual scholarships will be available for students from all SAARC member countries, and have been established to support the International initiatives of LUMS.
 
The founder of the Shahid Hussain Foundation, Mr. Shahid Hussain has longstanding ties with LUMS. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of LUMS and also on the Board of Governors, National Management Foundation (NMF), the governing body of LUMS. Mr. Hussain is the CEO of Service Sales Corporation (Pvt.) Ltd. and has worked in various industries and businesses in senior positions for over 30 years.
 
To add diversity to its student body, the university aims to increase induction of international students and these scholarships will help achieve this goal. LUMS is also continuously striving to make all its educational programmes accessible across the nation, regardless of their ability to pay. Various financial support opportunities are available to students at the Undergraduate level. These include need based tuition fee waivers, LUMS interest free loans, National Outreach Programme scholarships, merit scholarships and external scholarships.
 
Since inception, LUMS has disbursed PKR 3.2 Billion in financial assistance, with approximately 30% of the student body receiving some form of financial assistance each year. During the academic year 2015-16 alone, LUMS has disbursed more than PKR 500 Million as financial aid to its students. To date, more than 800 scholars have benefited from the LUMS National Outreach Programme (NOP).
