LUMS Chemistry Students Win Fully Funded PhD Admission Offers from Top-notch US Universities

Keeping the departmental tradition alive, this year again, all BS Chemistry students at the LUMS Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) have secured placements in world-class fully funded graduate programmes. These students received admission offers in PhD programmes of the following top-notch universities in the USA: Texas A & M, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Indiana University, Bloomington, Georgetown University, University of South Carolina, University at Buffalo (State University of New York), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), University of Kansas, Wayne State University and Iowa State University.

These students will graduate at the end of Summer 2018 and will start their graduate studies at their respective universities in the USA in Fall 2018. BS Chemistry student, Sarah Nawaz Lak shared her views about the BS programme at LUMS, “LUMS has provided me with a robust, world-class academic bedrock, upon which I can build an ambitious and passion-driven future in the field of Chemistry,” she said.

Fatima Hameed expressed her views about her LUMS journey, she said, "Studying at LUMS was a wholesome experience, giving me the opportunity to pursue studies and sports on an equal level. The department of Chemistry was always a safe learning environment with incredible instructors who always encouraged me to pursue my goals and dream big."

Nabeel Mujtaba Abbasi, who amazingly has fully funded offers from 11 universities in the USA, describes his LUMS experience, "The Chemistry department has provided me an exceptional experience, with a comfortable, homely environment like none other departments at LUMS. Over the years, I have built a bond with the instructors here due to the individual attention and family-like environment that is embedded in the very culture of this department."

Eman, another BS Chemistry student expressed her gratitude to her instructors. “I am utterly indebted to LUMS and the Chemistry department in particular for the constant support and encouragement I have received over the last 4 years,” she said.

Almost 80% of the graduates of the BS programme at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at LUMS aspire to pursue higher education from the top-tier graduate schools in the USA and so far, the success rate of their placement is 100%.
