LUMS Adventure Society Achieves Another Exciting Milestone

Friday, October 4, 2019

The LUMS Adventure Society (LAS) continues to go above and beyond to prove its passion and love for adventure. The members of LAS possess a high adventure streak that stimulates the enthusiasm in them to explore the rarely travelled and sometimes undiscovered landscape of Pakistan. On August 26, 2019 16 LAS members successfully crossed the Lupghar Pir Pass; a high mountain pass, to the west of Lupghar village in the upper Hunza Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan. Not only was LAS the first and the largest student only expedition to have accomplished this, but three out of the 16 members were women, namely Namra Nadeem, Mina Harris and Saba Haleem.

This is just another addition to the various milestones the society has achieved. In 2003, eight members of the society were a part of the first successful Pakistani crossing of Skam La Pass, a rarely beaten route that is situated in Gilgit-Baltistan, with an elevation of 5407 metres.

The LUMS Adventure Society has opened its doors for all those wanting to quench their thirst of adventure, and welcomes every passionate explorer. Members of the society are provided multiple opportunities to recognise their passions and empowered to challenge their fears.
