The L’Oréal Recruitment Drive was held at LUMS on Feb 4, 2020. L’Oréal is a French personal care company and the world leader in beauty, present in 150 countries on five continents. Organised by the Career Services Office at the University, the event included recruitment opportunities and also provided information about Brandstorm 2020. The event was attended by LUMS students as well members of L’Oréal’s management team.
Aly Shaan, Management Trainee L’Oréal and LUMS alumni, commenced the session by introducing his team. He shared his experience with the firm and told the audience that it’s the people at the company that set it apart. He informed the audience that L’Oréal’s CEO and Country Director, Junaid Murtaza, is also a LUMS alumni.
Khawaja Munir, Zonal Head L'Oreal Paris, was also present at the event and spoke to the audience. He shared some background about the company and explained that it was founded by Eugene Schueller in 1907 and has now become the number one cosmetic group in the world. In the coming years, the company aims to win over another billion consumers globally by creating cosmetic products that meet the infinite diversity of their beauty needs and desires.
Mr. Munir also talked about entrepreneurship, and encouraged students to work towards being the CEO of their own companies. He then showed attendees a video and gave an overview of the Brandstorm Challenge 2020 and the registration process and deadlines. He shared that it is an innovative competition that brings together ambitious students to solve the mission of the challenge and come up with an innovative idea.
Brandstorm is also the way to gain recruitment into the firm. Sana Ahmed, Human Resources Director L’Oréal, spoke to the audience about the recruitment process and said, “We are looking for amazing and innovative ideas from LUMS students”. The Brandstorm 2019 LUMS winners were then invited on stage to share their experience.
Sama Siraj, Management Trainee at L’Oréal and LUMS Alumni, also spoke at the event. She shared that she is handling the firm’s makeup section and encouraged students to join the company to get a life changing and diverse experience.
The event also consisted of exciting activities. Participants had the aim to collect 1000 plastic products from all over campus in the shortest amount of time. With the support of all the campus ambassadors, LUMS managed to collect over 3000 items!
The session ended with interactive Questions and Answer session, followed by group discussions.
