Central European University Information Session Conducted by OA and CSO

The LUMS Office of Advancement in collaboration with Career Services Office (CSO) and the Central European University (CEU) organised an Information Session for all prospective students and alumni on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Academic Block, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). The session was conducted by LUMS Alumni who have graduated from CEU, including Waqas Shabir, Dawar Hameed, and Muhammad Ahmad Hassan.

After sharing a wide-ranging perspective on how life for Muslims and Pakistanis is in Hungary, Mr. Shabir then went on to inform the audience about the pathways of academia available to them in Hungary. He shared his experience at Central European University (CEU). He also mentioned that the university is now accepting applications for its Master’s and PhD programmes for academic year 2019-2020. Mr. Shabir gave a brief introduction of the University. He said that the CEU is right at the heart of Europe with its main campus located in Budapest, Hungary, and the newly established campus in Vienna, Austria.  The university also offers a wide range of scholarships and financial aid to its students.

Later, Mr. Hameed took the stage to share his journey of scholarly pursuit. He opened with an overview of his journey from getting an undergraduate degree from LUMS, to an ensuing masters from CEU. He told students that the University has many Pakistani students and they are trying to focus on and get more Pakistani students. He further shared that University's reputation is inclined towards Sciences. Moreover, International Relations and Public Policies have also got a high-ranking. Mr. Hameed urged the attendees to continue acquiring professional work experience as these actions would most effectively boost their chances of admission.


Mr. Hassan then took the stage by giving an overview of options for Masters programmes, i.e. International Relations and Political Science and explained that LUMS degree is very useful and helpful for studying abroad. He added that people come from different communities in terms of their experiences, skills and cultural diversity.

The team had a question and answer session with the students and helped them with all their queries. The speakers also shared their contact details and students offered to help them in any capacity they could.
