Presidents Message

It is an honour for me to be able to lead a chapter of the organization that has been tirelessly working for the protection and furtherance of human rights across the world. Abuse and violation of basic human rights takes place every single day, all around us. My team seeks to become the voice of those who cannot stand up and speak up for themselves. We are determined to make every possible effort to highlight every instance of injustice and become a bright ray of hope in the vast sea of darkness that surrounds us today.

Zohaib Babar
President, Amnesty International

Our Vision

“Only when the last prisoner of conscience has been freed, when the last torture chamber has been closed, when the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a reality for the world’s people, will our work be done.” Amnesty International's vision is of a free world in which every person enjoys all the fundamental rights and liberties that are a right of every human being just by virtue of being human.

Our Mission

Our mission is to conduct research and generate action to prevent and end grave abuses of human rights, and to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated. We aim to pursue our mission by mobilizing public pressure through mass demonstrations, vigils, and direct lobbying, as well as online and offline campaigning.

Our Core Values

• Empathy, not sympathy

o Direct contact with the affected community engrains understanding among the members, which makes them more passionate about fighting for injustices.

• Ideas before hierarchy

o All the members of the society have equal opportunities to share ideas, propose action plans and be involved in decision making of events to ensure innovation and participation. This drives the members to contribute and not be bounded by incentives of promotions; after all, the real mission is upholding Human Rights, not private benefits.

• Small differences matter

o Given the chequered history of human rights in Pakistan, Amnesty encourages its members to take initiatives, however small.

Our Objectives

  • To act as a student-based activist and pressure group demanding a call to action on any current social issue from the concerned authorities.
  • To inculcate soft skills in the members of the society that will help the budding activists to continue their work on higher platforms.
  • To mobilize support, raise awareness and demand action from the public and not only restrict the work within LUMS
