Dr. Muhammad Sabieh Anwar, Associate Professor of Physics and his Physlab team at the Department of Physics at LUMS mentored the Pakistani team for the International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) 2018 held in Beijing, China.
The Pakistani team comprised of talented students Aarij Atiq, Ifrah Mahmood, Abdullah Salman and Umer Irfan from Pak Turk school. The problems these budding scientists had to tackle were the Azimuthal-Radial Pendulum; Blowing Bubbles and Colors of Powder; Weighing Time and Candle in Water.
The Physlab was happy to host these four budding scientists for three weeks, during which the lab team managed to help them to not only build their experimental setups but also provided expert guidance and analytical support to solve their designated problems.
This is the 31st event of the great physics world cup held every year hosted by different countries around the world. This was the second time a Pakistani team participated in this tournament.
