The Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP) conducted a recruitment information session for available positions at various departments, where Sarosh Sualehi, Head HR shared an introduction of CERP, its foundations, operations, activities, team and progress. She said that CERP was established in 2010, incorporated as a non-profit organisation with head offices operating in Lahore with research activity throughout Pakistan (including Islamabad and Karachi). She also introduced the CERP Board to the audience, which included among all other prominent figures, Atif Mian and renowned Economists, Asim Khwaja, Adnan Khan, Ali Cheema, Tahir Andrabi and Maroof Syed.
Ahmed Mustafa, Senior Research Assistant shared his experience of working at CERP. He spoke about the project he is working on, ‘Social Compact’, which aims to make salient the link between property taxes paid and the services provided. Wafa Masood Khan, Project Manager and LUMS alumna explained the project she is working on, a CERP programme named Punjab Economic Opportunities Programme (PEOP), which aims to increase the rate of economic growth in poor and vulnerable households in high poverty districts of southern Punjab by vocational trainings and market linkages.
Alieha Shahid, Programme Manager and LUMS graduate, discussed her achievements and journey from LUMS as a gold medalist to London School of Economics (LSE) on scholarship. She discussed her project, ‘Women Mobility Programme’ and the effect of transport on employment. She also spoke about her, initiative ‘Job Asan.’ She then handed over the mic to Adil Saeed, Lead of the Teaching Department, who elaborated on the teaching facilities at CERP from trainings of CSS officers to policymakers, development sector leaders and private sector and business leaders.
Maha Rehman, discussed the ‘CERP Analytics Mission.’ She also explained what exactly CERP is looking for in candidates and the recruitment and CERP working criteria. Sania Munir, HR Associate shared valuable information about the vacant positions, deadlines and how to apply etc.
The session concluded with an interactive Questions and Answers session.
